What We Believe

What We Believe

Bible-believing. Gospel-centered. Jesus-focused.

International Community Church is a Bible-believing, Gospel-centered, intercultural church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Our faith is built on the truth of God’s Word and the finished work of Jesus Christ.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the Word of God. It is true, trustworthy, and the final authority for our faith and life.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.

2 Timothy 3:16

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105

God

We believe there is one true God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, loving, just, merciful, all-powerful, and worthy of all worship.

The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Deuteronomy 6:4

Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return again. Jesus is the only Savior and Lord.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God.

1 Peter 3:18

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, brings new life, lives inside believers, helps us understand God’s Word, and empowers us to live for Christ.

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.

Acts 1:8

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Galatians 5:22–23

Humanity and Sin

We believe every person is created in the image of God and has great value and dignity. But all people have sinned against God and need salvation. Sin separates us from God, and we cannot save ourselves.

So God created man in his own image.

Genesis 1:27

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23

The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

Salvation

We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace. We are saved by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. We are not saved by good works, religion, culture, family background, or personal effort. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

For by grace you have been saved through faith.

Ephesians 2:8

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

Baptism

We believe baptism is an act of obedience for those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Baptism does not save us, but it is a public testimony that we belong to Jesus.

Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.

Acts 2:38

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death… that we too might walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:4

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ. The church gathers to worship, pray, teach the Bible, encourage one another, serve, and make disciples. The church is called to be a witness of Jesus to the world.

Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

1 Corinthians 12:27

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Acts 2:42

A great multitude… from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages.

Revelation 7:9

The Great Commission

We believe Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples of all nations. Because of this, ICC is passionate about making Jesus’ Name famous amongst the nations.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.

Matthew 28:19

Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

Mark 16:15

The Next Generation

We believe God has called us to reach, teach, disciple, and raise up the next generation for the Gospel. Children, youth, and young adults are precious to God.

One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.

Psalm 145:4

You shall teach them diligently to your children.

Deuteronomy 6:7

Let the children come to me; do not hinder them.

Mark 10:14

Prayer

We believe prayer is essential in the life of every believer and in the life of the church. Through prayer, we worship God, depend on Him, seek His will, and intercede for others.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Philippians 4:6

Pray without ceasing.

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Christian Living

We believe followers of Jesus are called to live lives of faith, obedience, love, holiness, humility, and service. We do not live for ourselves. We live for Christ.

If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Luke 9:23

Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.

James 1:22

Our Hope

We believe Jesus Christ will return. One day, He will make all things new. Those who belong to Christ will be with Him forever. This hope gives us strength, comfort, and courage to live faithfully today.

I will come again and will take you to myself.

John 14:3

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more.

Revelation 21:4
